I just have one folder, and in that folder there are a dozen memories for big clients: Bank 1 Bank 2 Bank 3 etc Plus three for automating SME accounts: Danish accounts Norwegian accounts Swedish accounts Plus three mix-n-match memories for other stuff: Random Danish Random Norwegian Random Swedish I don't organise memories from customers because I refuse to use them.

I have client-specific TMs for my regulars, sometimes more than one depending on their business areas. I also have a few more generalist TMs for areas I don't work in so often, for example "furniture".... "legal"... "import-export"....
I don't use TMs--why would I be using them | Aug 29, 2014 |
if I know 99% of the terms anyhow, or perhaps closer to 100% after I have done a particular translation. It is a total waste of time and computer space. I would never use anybody else's TMs.

Then by client - plus some individual client TMs

No CATs for me, thank you (even as animals I prefer dogs), but I do have a “translation memory”: the glossaries I have built for my clients + all the translations I have made for them over the years. It’s a bit harder but much more enjoyable for me!

I only sort them by customer and then by sub-customer and then Month as I always only use up-to-date TMs provided by my customers

For some clients, I have dedicated TMs plus one of the two or three I have "by field". One of my biggest clients hands me documents on draft version that they modify as final and then send it back to me as final to be updated. For such cases I have TMs organized by project unpolluted by other texts. I may use other TMs, but just for concordance search in case of specific language, e.g. Contracts.

What is this thing 'organization'? And what is 'transcendental meditation'? Go with the flow, dude

There is a wonderful colleague who helps me each time to organize the mess. And I hate TMs, by the way. They just kill my own thoughts.

My "TMs" are in my brain, which is reasonably well "organised" - and, like Teresa, in the copious glossaries I've compiled over the years, particularly for acronyms.
