If stuck in an airport for 5 hours, I'd rather kill time working...

because I have done so once or twice, on a very old laptop. I don't use it any more now, as it has become too slow; if I buy myself a new laptop some time, I might again, on long journeys, although I rather like the feeling of freedom when I don't have computer and internet access.

If I'm on a business trip up to Tokyo or elsewhere. Am I missing something here?
I travel a lot (at least once a month) between Brussels and Lisbon for family reasons and, like Neil, I find it's the most fruitful way to pass the time in airport waiting areas...

except when I am actually driving, but when flying, travelling by train, always. Best time to get "things" done. Good one Julian

I nearly always work while travelling. I find it passes the time much more quickly, especially when flying within Europe. It makes the flight seem shorter somehow. It should be even better now that they are starting to introduce wifi on aircraft. Of course, I always go over the work afterwards in a more conducive environment.

When I'm travelling to visit my family for a few days or weeks (as I'm doing right now : ), I bring my laptop and I can take some work, but nothing too big which would make me stay the whole day in front of a computer. But when I travel on vacations - what I try to do once a year - there's no way. I do not accept any job and try to practice the first half of the word "freelancer".

sometimes and right now | Jul 9, 2014 |
Right now I am supposedly on holiday, in Holland. I warned some clients I would not be available, but there are a few exceptions. So the hated laptop came with me. No big projects though, I couldn't put my CAT tool on the laptop as I've already used both licences on other machines.

I travel a lot, and most usually for work. Right now I am displaced to another city in Spain, and have been since 10th June. After my interpreting finishes for the day (mid afternoon) I generally have to catch up with my written translation clients. So, my laptop is always with me, and I generally work 3 - 4 hours per day in addition to the interpreting work. Aren't all interpreters/translators worhaholics of some sort?
