I hope none of you have similar horror stories to tell. This definitely has more of a Halloween ring to it than Easter.
Happy translating! |

A couple of similar anecdotes from my earlier days. Other examples include "urgent" work sent last thing on Friday night for a Monday morning "urgent" delivery, whereas had they organised themselves a little better, their poor organisation would not have become my weekend's work. Gradually got rid of those clients in favour of those for whom real emergencies can arise and who are ready to pay emergency rates.

I spent most of the Easter holidays organizing files, backing up my data, upgrading the OS on my main PC from XP to Windows 7 and MS Office from 2003 to 2010 and reinstalling all my old software. Not much fun, but it was worth it. During a normal working week I never got around to it. I’ll now finish a small translation due tomorrow and then enjoy the rest of the Sunday!

How true!
In my case, I am not working this holiday weekend, except for a few hours I worked yesterday. Today is my day.

It sometimes happens that during the holidays sleeping "agents 700" wake up.
Therefore, people who are out this week, have double fun! Happy Easter!

Friends were over today, family tomorrow. I am fitting work around my family's schedule.
I would have said no (please wait) to a new client, but for a returning client who needs my help it is different. I actually like working weekends on occasion, few email come in, few phone calls, it is quiet.
And to those who do celebrate, happy Easter!

Depends on how you look on things: in some countries, this is a bank holiday for people who are NOT self-employed and an opportunity for them to come over and let me spoil them
If it were not for "others", I would agree 200%.

I've been working all weekend.
I still don't know if I'll be working over the Easter weekend: that's next week in the Greek Orthodox calendar!

I am a Christian but not particularly religious. I do telephone interpreting but log on less at Easter and I take calls at other times, when not logged on.
