Hello everyone Does MemoQ have a built-in function that can load a misaligned TMX file, and then let the user fix the misalignment, before saving the fixed TMX file again? Samuel
Samuel how well do you know LiveDocs? That is its huge plus, as alignment can be carried out fairly roughly to begin with if you need the TMX for concordance purposes, but is a matter of seconds to put right if you find a misalignment. You can then ask it to re-align from the place where you have made the correction. It's not perfect, but it's a lot quicker and easier than most other solutions I've found. That said, it may not handle TMX files natively but may work better on an export - I have no experience with that, but would be interested to find out. ▲ Collapse | | | Samuel Murray Netherlands Local time: 07:45 Member (2006) English to Afrikaans + ... Okay, but if MemoQ is not the tool in which the translation will be done, can a translator who owns a MemoQ licence take a misaligned TMX, convert it to MemoQ's format, and then use LiveDocs to fix the misalignment entirely, before saving the TM and converting it back to TMX? | | | esperantisto Local time: 09:45 Member (2006) English to Russian + ... …the procedure, as I understand, can be as follows: 1. Export TMX to a bilingual table (CSV or whatever). 2. Split (re-save) the table into two documents with the source and target separated. 3. Feed the two resulting documents to LiveDocs.

So, if I understand you correctly, the answer to my original question would be "no", MemoQ does not have the functionality to fix misalignments in a misaligned TMX. | | | esperantisto Local time: 09:45 Member (2006) English to Russian + ... No, I have never seen any sign of such a functionality. | | | jmacan Local time: 07:45 Italian to English Fixing TMX alignment in memoQ | Nov 6, 2016 |
Sorry to arrive so late but, there is a solution offered by memoQ. You can import the TMX in the translation editing interface for modification. At this point, it can be modified there, or added to a LiveDocs where the alignment can be modified. The fixed LiveDoc file can then be exported to a TM and, if necessary, exported from here to a TMX. | | | Kids, just say no | Nov 6, 2016 |

That's a procedure I would only recommend in the most dire circumstances. If some work was already done on the TMX to get the segments paired up correctly, you are throwing that in the trash by starting over like that. And it's futzy and a possible source of errors (character entity corruption aka "what are these &s and "quot;s in my text?" wouldn't surprise me). | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Fix misaligned TM?
