Demopaedia is an open encyclopedia on Demography and Population Research It is a long term project. The project starts with the obtention of the authorization from the various authors of the Multilingual Demographic Dictionary to publish the entire contents of the dictionary (the so-called Green Editions) on the Demopaedia Web site. In March 2006, this process is still on progress. 14 differents editions in 14 different languages are currently known. A second step consists in the revision of the dictionary for year 2008 (called the Blue Edition). The revision process will be allowed to Demographers only (people belonging to scientific associations on Population).

La terminología es un instrumento importante en apoyo del rol que la Organización desempeña en el sector de la comunicación y de la información pública y para la creación de una cultura institucional. El aumento de la demanda de herramientas terminológicas que se recibe de todos los sectores de la FAO y de sus colaboradores externos (traductores, editores, expertos nacionales y responsables de las decisiones, investigadores, científicos, los medios de comunicación, organizaciones internacionales, etc.), así como la voluntad expresada por sus órganos rectores de reforzar las capacidades multilingües de la Organización, reflejan ese rol. La cada vez mayor cantidad de información multilingüe requiere una base de datos sólida, tanto para proporcionar equivalentes lingüísticos correctos como sobre todo para estandarizar la terminología utilizada en la Organización y en el sistema de las Naciones Unidas en general. Para estandarizar y armonizar la gran cantidad de términos usados en los documentos y las publicaciones de la FAO, la Organización ha desarrollado la base de datos terminológicos FAOTERM. También la base de datos institucional sobre NOMBRES DE PAÍSES tiene por objeto facilitar la consulta y la armonización de los nombres de países en toda la Organización. El sitio ofrece a los usuarios otros Recursos Lingüísticos tales como enlaces con bases de datos terminológicos internacionales, referencias e información de interés lingüístico.

There is very little in the official translation books or elsewhere for these terms. Not even in those big Web translation programs. It may not be important to the rest of the world, but it is to us. Polex: a Terminological Knowledge Base Polex+®, a police lexicon officially known as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police English-French Police Terminological Glossary, is a terminology management tool. It respects the terminology principles outlined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 704). Terminology management is the part of information management that provides an organization with the tools to stay in line with the terminology of statutes, and politically and socially correct phrases. It harmonizes in-house terms and names, and ensures consistency of meaning in its internal and external communications. The orginality of Polex lies in its hybrid nature between a conventional term base and a knowledge base, as defined in artificial intelligence. Its collection of terminology records forms a computerized architecture, and numerous sub-glossaries are designed as highly structured sets of knowledge that can be programmed to automatically generate conceptual trees and "extensional" definitions. Thus, Polex is a terminological knowledge base. These characteristics make Polex the first police database suited to computer-assisted translation (CAT), instructional techniques, thesauri applications (such as information storage and retrieval), and technical writing.
